IRE Fairfield Fire Department Volunteer Firefighter DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS: Residency within 5 miles of the city limits Must obtain Firefighter 1, HAZMAT Ops, and CPR certifications within the first year Must be able to respond to 75% of the calls Must attend 1 meeting night and 1 training night each month Must possess a valid drivers license BENEFITS: Quarterly Stipend IPERS Retirement The Fairfield Fire Department is a combination department with 3 fulltime drivers, one fulltime chief and 15 firefighters who receive a quarterly stipend. The department responds to between 250-300 calls each year.
