Family Support Supervisor 1.0 FTE (Washington/Henry) Family Support Specialist 1.0 FTE (Washington County) Group Parent Educator .5 FTE (Henry County) lowa State University Extension-seeks family support and education specialists to work in Henry and Washington Counties with the grant funded Family Connection Program. The program utilizes Parents as Teachers Curriculum to provide in home education and parent coaching for parents with children from birth to age 5. These positions will be responsible for providing families with parenting support and information on child development and positive parenting practices while building an on-going relationship with each family to encourage and support every parent to be the first and best teacher of their child. Education provided via individual meetings, and group workshops to bring families together, conducting developmental screenings, and connecting families to a network of resources for parents and children. Desired skills include: Strong communication skills, highly organized and ability to work with families with a strength based focus. BA/BS degree in social work, education, or early childhood preferred and experience work with young children and families is required. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license. Bilingual applicants encouraged. Parents as Teacher training and obtain certification within 3 months of hire. Positions are full time, health benefits eligible. IPERS.
