bp Smithburg Automotive, Inc. 308 W. Burlington Ave. and 407 S. 23rd St., Fairfield 641-472-2454 641-472-2831 641-472-5454 The Smithburg Automotive family is honored to be given the opportunity to take over Bob & Mary Keller's life work at Bob's Automotive. November 2, 2020 will be our first day of operation at the former Bob's Automotive location. We are a multi-generation family in the automotive field starting with my Grandfather, Everett Smithburg. Everett was involved in new Ford sales in the 1940's to early 1950's, he then became a Standard Station operator from 1956-1961, he then purchased George's Battery & Electric in 1976 and ran it up until 1992 when he retired. My father, Dennis Smithburg, was a Ford mechanic at 19 years old. He then worked as an Indy car mechanic from 1968-1977 as well as running his own shop in Phoenix, AZ. Dennis then became the Fairfield High School automotive instructor from 1975-1987. Dave and Madonna purchased Everett's business on 4th Street in 1992. Dave started his automotive career as a young boy working with his Grandpa Everett and continued on at Mack's Auto in high school. After attending Indian Hills, Dave worked at Fairfield Toyota for 4 years. Dave and Madonna then purchased the Norton family Amoco Station in November 2000. We will continue operating the BP station on Burlington Avenue as well as the Bob's Automotive location. Our daughter, Stephanie Schafer, joined us after attending college at Minnesota State University and our son, Michael, joined us after attending college at Kansas University. Between our two children, we have five young grandchildren who are already showing signs of their mechanical ability. We are all looking forward to servicing Fairfield and the surrounding communities for generations to come. We will continue the same high-quality service that the Keller's have set as a standard in our community. We wish Bob & Mary the best in their next phase of life and thank you for the great opportunity.
