Jefferson County 4-H is now taking adult volunteer applications for the new Youth Committee committees. The restructure, which took place earlier this year, divided the organization into committees to assist volunteers with their specific talents. The committees are: 1. Program Growth Committee 2. Recruitment 3. Retention and Recognition 4. Fair (three different committees) Livestock Superintendents Static Building Superintendents Showmanship 5. Fundraising County Youth Committees are vital partners in fulfilling the mission of 4-H at the county level. Members are youth and adults from the county who are committed to taking an active role in the decision-making, planning, conducting and evaluating of county 4-H programs. CYC Grace Davidson has created an application that further explains each committee and its duties. A background check is also required. Volunteers are asked to select only two committees on which to serve. Each committee is active at different times of the year. lowa State University Extension and Outreach in Jefferson County strives to meet the needs of all lowans through research-based programming and education. One of its program areas is the 4-H Youth Development Program which serves youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade. 4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States. Jefferson County 4-H has over 250 members. The 4-H program relies heavily on Youth-Adult Partnerships.
